If customers like Brian Tam are to be believed, enjoying your meal on the dock at Roy Moore is an experience unlike any other. The atmosphere complements the food, with a laid-back vibe that perfectly suits its coastal location. Whether you choose to savor your meal on the patio or take it to-go, the spirit of the ocean is always present.
Many visitors have noted that even the simplest dishes stand out. For instance, Megan Zalenas commends the juicy meat of the locally-caught lobsters, which are typically a manageable size at around 1 ½ pounds. The flavor and tenderness of the lobster, in tandem with an excellent service that makes guests feel like family, creates a dining experience that's hard to forget.
One standout dish mentioned repeatedly is the clam chowder. Megan and others laud its rich consistency and heartwarming taste, setting it apart from the often-thin chowders found in many restaurants. Coupled with a side of their stuffed clams or succulent shrimp cocktail, it transforms dinner into a memorable feast.
Beware, though: the weekends attract a crowd! As Buster Cat wisely advises, arriving early is key to securing one of the limited tables on the patio. This only adds to the charm, as seated guests often find themselves mingling and sharing stories over a shared love of fresh seafood.

With the stunning backdrop of Rockport, this is not merely a meal—it's an experience filled with joy, connection, and the finest seafood the ocean has to offer. If I ever have to pick a last meal, this is it. I spent 5 days eating my way from Boston to Portland and back and this was hands down the best lobster meal of the entire trip. You can't get a better lobster experience than having your lobster on the dock in the back.

The hot lobster roll, clam chowder and stuffed clams were delicious. We stood out on the patio and ate our food. It was crowded, so standing room only, but it was great. The people that worked there clearly love what they do and their joy was contagious.

If you’re looking for the freshest lobster on the East Coast, you MUST try Roy Moore Lobster Company. I have been coming here for over 10 years. I figured it was time to update my 9 year old review! Roy Moore is famous for their locally-caught lobsters. They’re typically 1 1/2 LB lobsters, which is the perfect size in my opinion. The meat is juicy, tender, and flavorful. The larger lobsters are more tough. The establishment is a no-frills environment. You order up-front and eat out back on the deck overlooking the water. They offer fresh lobsters, smoked salmon, smoked mussels, clam chowder, oysters, Jonah crab claws, fish cakes, stuffed clams, lobster rolls, and shrimp cocktails. Everything is incredibly fresh. You’ll frequently see staff bringing in crates of lobsters right off the boat. It doesn’t get any fresher than that! The owner and his son are wonderful people. Kenny is the best at cooking the lobsters, he has it down to a science. You can’t replace experience. The result is a juicy, hot, and flavorful lobster. We typically start things off with the raw bar. We are big fans of their oysters, shrimp cocktail, and jonah crab claws. Next, we go for a cup of their incredible clam chowder. It is a meal in and of itself. It’s not like most Clam Chowder where it’s watered down, thin, and tasteless. I’d argue they make the best chowder I have ever had. Once we have hit the raw bar and chowder, we head onto the Stuffed Clams. The stuffed clams are incredible and they’re one of my favorite items on the menu. The lobsters are the star of the show here. As of October 2023, you can get (3) lobsters for 40. The price has certainly increased a bit, but to me it’s worth it. They’re always cooked perfectly, pre-cracked, and piping hot. The service is phenomenal. Kenny and his team truly put their all into the business. They also remember faces. I’ve been going there for 10 years and he always recognizes me when I stop in. I will warn you: Do not go on a weekend. The line is literally dozens of people deep. It is totally mobbed. The place has certainly grown and the secret is out where to get the best lobster. I’d suggest visiting during the week, it’s far less busy. They also have a fish market next door where you can purchase locally-caught, sustainable fish, lobsters, lobster meat, and much more. Lastly, they now offer Beer and Wine to enjoy with your seafood feast! I highly recommend Roy Moore to locals and tourists alike. There is no other place like it.

Food was amazing! We got a bit of everything. You can really taste the freshness of the lobster, clam, and fish. Of course you can also see the live lobster right before you order. Be aware the line gets pretty long at lunch time and there are only about 6 tables in the back to sit at.

Easily the best lobster roll I’ve ever had. Awesome laid back vibes, nice people, fantastic food. The clam chowder was also a 10/10!

Cute little shack with great food and amazing service. They are so friendly and so nice. We had buttered lobster roll, clam chowder, stuffed clam. All were delicious!! I've had lobster roll elsewhere and hands down, this one was the best. We had to wall between the 2 shacks to go in the back for a table. The passage way is really narrow but manageable. If you are only 2 people, you have to share a table because not enough for everyone. Great opportunity to meet new people.

Mouthwatering lobster roll. Very generous portions. As fresh as can be. Upbeat and happy staff. Cozy little place to sit on the back. Charming AR Rockport itself.

Had a bowl of chowder, a fish cake and a one and a quarter pound lobster at Roy Moores today. Very friendly service by the guys running the order desk. The food came quickly after ordering. Food tasted great. Absolutely no complaints! We were lucky we arrived a little earlier before lunch. Got a table. If you want to eat in you better get there early. There are limited spaces at the patio. Many were waiting. So get there early! Highly recommended!
